Cars in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police stated they were contacted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.

A senior official said the incident left him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
